The funeral of Mathew Wiesen, who died at his home in Scandinavia last week, was held Saturday morning at St. Mary Magdalen's church, Waupaca.

Interment was in Lakeside cemetery. Six sons-in-law acted as bearers.

He was born Oct. 15, 1840 in Berlin, Germany. At the age of 17 he immigrated to America with his parents and settled in Racine. They came to Scandinavia the following December, and settled on the homestead where they erected a log house in which Mr. Wiesen lived for 69 years until the time of his death.

On Oct. 11, 1871 he married Katherine Wallace of Waupaca, who preceded him in death Oct. 11, 1881.

On April 10, 1882, he was united in marriage to Miss Anne Herres of New London.

He is suvived by his widow and 13 children: Mrs. J. McCall of Waupaca, Mrs. Joseph Whittington of Marshfield, Alex of Sheridan, Julia, Mrs. Louis Darge, Maurice of Fond du Lac, Mrs. Bert Lipke of Sheboygan, Mrs. Charles Eggers and Mrs. John Eggers of New London, Matt and Leo of Milwaukee, John of Chicago and Lawrence of Scandinavia; two sisters, Mrs. William Behnke of Weyauwega and Mrs. Julia Aich of Stevens Point; and 14 grandchildren.
