Victor Kilian is best known as the "Fernwood Flasher" on the TV series "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman." He was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, and began his career in a vaudeville company. He worked on the New York stage, and from there went on to Hollywood. During the movie Reap the Wild Wind, with John Wayne, he lost an eye during a fight scene with Wayne. He was blacklisted in the 1950's during the McCarthy era, and then turned to television, appearing on such shows as "The Brady Bunch", and "The Jeffersons". It was on "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman", that he found his greatest fame. In March of 1979, he was murdered by burglars that were robbing his apartment in Los Angeles. The crime remains unsolved.
