Veteran of Revolutionary War. In the book, "History of Pine Grove Schuylkill County, Pa", by Judge George Haas, page 58, Leonard Reed became a resident of the township in 1768.
Almost from the beginning of the Revolutionary war, he held the position of Wagon Master of the northern section of Brunswick and Pine Grove Townships. In January, 1778, he was promoted to Wagon Master of all of Berks County. In March 1778, his teams were constantly employed carrying flour and forage to Schuylkill, where they were loaded on flatboats and transported to Valley Forge.
Page 59 says that he and his wife Anna Maria Zerbe were members of the Jacob's Church at Exmoor and were both buried at that cemetery adjoining the church.
