Susie O. McComb, age 84, passed away Wednesday evening, Jan. 6, 1988 at the Pioneer Nursing Home in Big Timber.

She was born December 27, 1903 in Somerset, Kentucky, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew G. Broughton and came with her parents to Big Timber, Montana when she was 7 years of age. She attended Dry Creek country school and Big Timber Grade School.

On February 16, 1927 she was married lo Harry P. McComb in Columbus, MT. They lived on the Boulder and later moved into Big Timber to reside. She had been employed as a cook at the hot lunch program at Sweet Grass County High School for some time and had also been a cook at the Hospitality House and the Pioneer Nursing Home prior to her retirement.

She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, the Royal Neighbors of America and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband. Harry P. McComb on August 9, 1979, her parents, two sisters, and a son-in-law. Phil Spilde.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Tom (Betty) Howard of Big Timber. Mrs. Alvin (Beatrice) Gorr of Clyde Park. Mrs. Phil (Doris) Spilde of Pierre. South Dakota, and Mrs. Pete (Dorothy) Burmeister of Big Timber; two brothers, Virgil Braughton and Lloyd Braughton, both of Big Timber; three sisters. Kade Davis of Big Timber, Ruby Person of Roundup, and Edith Lomeland of Big Timber; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; also numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Lowry Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray L. Erwin of the Seventh Day Adventist Church officiating. Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery. Casket bearers were Gary Burmeister. Dan Burmeister, Gene Spilde, Stuart Ellison, Dan Rostad and Albert Stuber. Organist was Jennie Roys and soloist was David Roys. The selections were "Precious Memories" and "How Great Thou Art" and a tape by David and Vivian Lomeland titled "The Longer I Serve Him The Sweeter It Grows."
