George Washington Faires was born 1828 in Tennessee to Eli Faires and Frances P. Morrison.
On September 14, 1854 he married Elizabeth Frances Gragson in Haywood County, Tennessee, and the couple had 7 daughters -- Martha Almeda, Sarah Judie Bell, Frances Adelaide, Rebecca Gurlean, Mary Effa, Bettie Gertrude, and Edie Jane Faires.
George and Elizabeth lived out their lives in Haywood County. When they died, they were buried in Chestnut Grove Cemetery near Brownsville. Their two youngest daughters were also buried at Chestnut Grove, and it is believed by some that George's parents may be there as well.
