She was the youngest of the four daughters of Johann Friedrich of Brunswick-Lüneburg, Duke of Hanover and Benedikte Henriette of Simmern. She married Joseph I in 1699 who infected her with a venereal disease. In the following three years she gave birth to three children, Maria Josepha, Leopold Joseph and Maria Amalia. After her husbands death in 1711 she lived secluded in a wing of the Hofburg Palace in Vienna. She was buried in the Salesian convent near the Belvedere Palace in Vienna, which she had founded in 1717. Her heart was laid to rest by her husbands feet. (bio by: Lutetia)
