JAMES A. BYARD VETERAN, DIES
James Arthur Byard, 61 farmer and veteran of World War I, died this morning at 6:15 o'clock at the home of his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Smith, Emmitsburg R. 3. A complication of diseases caused death.
Mr. Byard was a son of the late John and Josephine Wetzel Byard. he served in the infantry in World War I from July 23, 1918 to January 31, 1919 and was a member of the Francis X Elder American Legion post in Emmitsburg.
Surviving are a brother John Frederick, Md; three sisters, Mrs.Russell Koontz, Gettysburg: Mrs. James Trout, Westminster. Md.: Miss Rosie Byard, Emmitsburg and Mrs. Smith at whose home he died.
Military funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the Allison funeral home in Emmitsburg with further services at 2 o'clock at the Friends' Creek church with interment in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home in Emmitsburg Tuesday evening after 7 o'clock.
