Arthur 'Art' Lawson Dymond, 90, of Marshall passed away Thursday, Aug. 31, 2006, in Marshall. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15, 2006, at Trinity Episcopal Church with Father John Himes officiating. The cremated remains of Art and Jean Dymond will be placed in the Trinity Columbarium following the funeral service. Art Dymond was born Oct. 18, 1915, to Arthur L. Dymond Sr. and Bessie May English Dymond in Wyoming, Pa. He received his bachelors from the Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa. and a masters from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa., in 1940. Art was the assistant personnel director for The Aluminum Company of America in Massena, N.Y., from 1942-1949; the personnel director of Aluminum Company of America in Port Lavaca from 1949-1952; the personnel director at Universal Match Corporation in Ferguson, Mo., from 1952-1956; the personnel manager at ICI (formerly Atlas Chemical Industries) in Marshall from 1956 to 1975; a consultant in employee-employer relations from 1975 to 1977; the human resources director for East Texas Salt Water Disposal Company from 1977 to 1980; and in 1980 he officially retired. During the 50 years he lived in Marshall, Mr. Dymond held a very large number of positions in various organizations as well as earned many distinguished service awards, including but not limited to lifetime member of Marshall Rotary for whom he served in several capacities and received the International District Service Award; he received a citation for distinguished service from the Texas Historical Commission and the Texas Historical Foundation; he was a charter life member of the East Texas Personnel Association; he received the award for outstanding service from the Texas Manufacturers' Association; was a member of Private Industry Council (CETA); a member of SCORE (SBA), Longview Chapter 354; member and officer of the Southwest Placement Association; and was appointed director of Civil Service in 1967 until he resigned. He was also a member of the Harrison County Agricultural Extension; Texas Cooperative Extension; Texas Association of Business, in which he received an award for outstanding service; East Texas Baptist University Board of Associates, and Kilgore College Occupational Education Division. Mr. Dymond held many positions with his church, Trinity Episcopal Church in Marshall, of which he was a lifetime member. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Jean Van Horn Dymond, who died May 31, 2006. They were married in 1938 in Wyalusing, Pa. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Alton Dymond of Tatamy, Pa. He leaves his daughter, Susan Jean Dymond of Marshall; his son, Michael A Dymond and wife, Susan Blundell Dymond of Drippings Springs; a grandson, Hunter T. Dale of Dallas; his nieces, Marilyn Prothero of Wyalusing, Pa., and Jane Belkey, of Tatamy, Pa.; and a nephew, Jim Dymond of Bath, Pa. Downs Funeral Home
