Our beloved husband, father grandfather, and brother John Whitney, 55, of Lubbock passed from this life March 27, 2011.

Celebration of life services will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Crossroads United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 from 6-8 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home.

John was born on April 22, 1955 in Florence, Or. to the late Wilbert and Pearl Whitney. He was a faithful member of the Crossroads United Methodist Church. John was the co-owner of Great Plains Steel for over 20 years. He enjoyed hunting, attending car shows and spending time with his beloved family. John was preceded in death by 2 siblings.

He is survived by his loving wife; Barbara Whitney, daughters; Christy Wilson and Stephanie McWilliams all of Lubbock, six grandchildren, and seven siblings.
