Henderson County lost one of its oldest and most respected citizens when John Wash Fesmore died in the home of his nephew, Felix Rhodes, Friday of last week at about 11 o'clock a.m. Mr. Fesmire was a member of the M.E. Church, and his son, Rev. Willie J. Fesmire, is the popular Superintendent of this District. He had been ill for several weeks, and his death was not unexpected by the many relatives and friends in and near the home in which he died. He was a staunch Republican, and when in his prime, was an active participant in affairs of the body. Mr. Fesmire had lived, since the death of his wife, with his children and other relatives. He operated his farm and was known as one of the best farmers in the Northwest part of the county. In early life he was happily married to Miss Amanda Cunningham, and to them eleven children were born, four of whom survive.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. C.W. Rhodes of Bruceton, and Mrs. J.E. Rhodes of Lexington; two sons, the Rev. W.J. Fesmire of Baxter, ad J.S. Fesmire of Lexington; two sisters, Mrs. H.D. Williams of McLemoresville and Mrs. Betty Rhodes of Lexington; three brothers, I.M. Fesmire and E.L. Fesmire of Lexington and F.W. Fesmire of Jackson.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at Antioch by Rev. R.E. Blankenship with interment in the nearby cemetery with R.R. Pafford in charge.
