Hugh Noyes Mulcahy

Major League Baseball Player. He was a right handed pitcher for nine seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies 1935 to 1940, 1945, 1946 and the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1947. In 1940, he was named to the National League All Star team and never had a full season in the majors in which he recorded more wins than losses. He ended his career with a 45-89 win-loss record, 63 complete games, 5 Shutouts, 9 saves, 314 strikeouts and a 4.49 earned run average. He also was first major leaguer to be drafted into US Military service before World War II in March 1941. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
