Elizabeth Jane Rand of Groesbeck passed away Saturday, April 2, 2011 at Limestone Medical Center.
Visitation will be Monday evening, April 4, 2011 from 6-8 PM at the Groesbeck Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted 10 AM Tuesday morning, April 5, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Groesbeck with Rev. Bobby Atwell and Rev. Tracy Sims officiating. Burial will follow at Faulkenberry Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Chris Rand, Jimmy Bradley, Jr., Mikey Terry, Keith Rand, Derek Pringle, Bill Narramore and Jimmy Harryman. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Longbotham, Elmer Beene, Jr., Roy Baccus, Jimmy Bradley, Sr. and Jack Forrest.
Jane was born to Ernest & Lottie Browder on October 11, 1929 in Groesbeck. She was raised there until her graduation from Groesbeck High School in 1947. After high school, she attended college at Baylor University, but then started the rest of her life by marrying the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Randall Rand on August 6, 1948. Her life as a loving wife, homemaker, mother, cook, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher and mentor would positively effect the lives of all those who came in contact with her for many years to come. Jane & Randall quickly started a family, and before long had three sons, Doug, Don and Ricky. While raising her sons, she served as a school room mother to all three boys and was always active in the PTA, Cub Scouts, fund raisers, numerous school and homecoming events. She attended thousands of sporting events watching her three sons participate, and was always the greatest supporter of the Groesbeck Goats and was honored as Home Coming Queen several years ago. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Baylor Bears fan. Jane was a longtime member of the Groesbeck Women's Club, board member and volunteer of the Lords Store House and was an original and continuous cast member of the long running "Groesbeck Red Stocking Follies." She was an avid reader, and read her Bible and prayed for others everyday. One of her greatest joys was traveling. Jane and Ranall were fortunate to have traveled all over the world for many years with their traveling buddies, Martha & Tom Longbotham as well as with her family and many others.
One of her greatest passions was for the First Baptist Church of Groesbeck. Jane was saved and baptized in 1937. She was a faithful and loyal member of the Church for the next 74 years, with the exception of 6 years she served a Baptist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana. Through her years at First Baptist Groesbeck, she was a long time choir member, vacation Bible school worker and Sunday school teacher.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest & Lottie Browder; in-laws, Garvin & Elna Rand; brother, James Browder and wife Alice; sister, Dorothy Shillings and husband Art; and two great-granddaughters, Breckyn Bradley and Mika Terry.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Randall Rand; sons, Doug Rand and wife Marlene, Don Rand and wife Mary and Ricky Rand and wife Tammy all of Groesbeck; grandchildren, Dr. Chris Rand and wife Deana, Rachel Bradley and husband Jimmy, Jr. all of Groesbeck, Michele Terry and husband Mikey of Maypearl, Keith Rand and wife JJ, Nicole Pringle and husband Derek also of Groesbeck, Kathryn Rand of San Antonio, Kimberly Rand of Denver, CO, Chance Lowenthal and Ashliegh Rand of Groesbeck; great-grandchildren, Madison Terry, Brayden Bradley, Jake Pringle, Dylan Rand, Macy Terry, Kylie Rand, Breann Bradley, Tyson Pringle, Carley Rand, Bryce Rand and Brittyn Bradley; along with numerous loving nieces, nephews, in-laws and many many friends.
