MABEL K. BELCHER
SECRETARY, WAITRESS
Mabel K. Belcher, 92, Statesville, N.C., formerly of Watertown, died Saturday evening in Iredell Memorial Hospital, Statesville, where she had been a patient since May 1.
Mrs. Belcher worked for her father's business for a number of years in Watertown and Sackets Harbor, was a waitress in Watertown and had worked for Bagley & Sewell during World War II. She moved to Lakeland, Fla., in 1980, and returned to New York in 1988, living in Evans Mills before moving to North Carolina in 2001.
Born May 28, 1910, in Cornwall, Ontario, daughter of George Hiram and Bertha Huff Bronson, she moved with her family to Watertown in 1917 and graduated from Watertown High School and from Watertown School of Commerce, where she studied to be a secretary.
She married Charles Belcher of Watertown on June 3, 1934, at Sayre, Pa. The marriage was annulled Jan. 24, 1941. She remarried Mr. Belcher in Watertown on Oct. 19, 1957. He died Oct. 18, 1963. A marriage to Howard Livermore ended in divorce.
Surviving are a sister, Mina Polinski, Pompano Beach, Fla.; two stepdaughters and their husbands, Patricia and Wendell Turcott, Stony Point, N.C., and Linda and George Mandigo, Oxbow; two stepsons and their wives, Richard and Virginia Belcher, Lakeland, Fla., and James and Wendy Belcher, Chaumont; 20 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in North Watertown Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with Reed & Benoit Funeral Home.
Donations may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County.
