MISS BOWCOCK PASSES AWAY
McGaheysville March 11 - Miss Mildred E. Bowcock, retired Registered Nurse, a native, and for a number of years a resident of this community, died this afternoon at five o'clock at Greenbriar Valley Hospital in Ronceverte, W.Va., where she had been a patient for about two weeks.
Miss Bowcock was a daughter of the late Jesse E. and Margaret Rippetoe Bowcock, and was born in McGaheysville, where she spent the early part of her life. Upon entering the career of nursing, she servied as Registered Nurse for Greenbrier College in Lewisburg, W.Va. for a number of years. She returned here following the death of her mother to care for her father. She remained here until the death of her father and brother, Vance Bowcock. Following the death of her brother, she returned to Lewisburg where she lived for 7 years. She was the surviving member of her family. Five brothers preceded her in death. Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Miss Bowcock was a former member of the Brown's Memorial Reformed Church here. She attended church regularly while a resident of this community. She was well known here as an authority on local history.
Graveside services will probably be conducted Sunday afternoon at three o'clock from the family lot in the McGaheysville Cemetery. Services will be in charge of the Rev. Douglas Ebert.
Pallbearers will be: Noah Sheetz, Benton Burke, James Hedrick, Ben Rolston, Russell Sellers and John Moore.
Pallbearers are asked to meet at the cemetery, Sunday afternoon at two-fifty.
The body is now at the w. H. Kyger Funeral Home. where it will remain until Sunday afternoon at two forty-five.
MISS BOWCOCK'S FUNERAL IS HELD
McGaheysville, March 13 - Graveside services for Miss Mildred E. Bowcock were held this afternoon in the McGaheysville Cemetery, with the Rev. Douglas Ebert officiating.
She was a native of this community, where she spent most of her life. She had resided at Lewisburg, W.Va. for the past seven years. Miss Bowcock died Friday at the Greenbrier Valley Hospital, Ronceverte, where she was a patient for two weeks. She was the surviving member of her family.
The large number attending the funeral were a tribute to Miss Bowcock.
