Ray Brackin, 77, of Cleveland died tuesday in a local hospital after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Sevier Co, born on Meigs Mountain in the great Smoky Mountains. He was a member of the Macadonia Baptist Church, and a veteran of WW2 having served in the Navy Seabees for two years, serving in Siapan and Okinawa. He was a Mechanist retired from Hardwick Stove Company. He was the son of the late Riley Davis, and Ethel Ownby Brackin, and was preceded in death by a sister Evelyn Brackin Ogle and brothers, Carl, Earl, Roy and Dott Brackin
Survivors include wife of 49 years: Pauline Ownby Brackin; daughter Peggy Brackin of Pikeville; sons:Raymond Brackin Jr. and Steve Brackin of Cleveland. Granddaughter: Jennifer Brackin; Grandsons Todd Roberson and Riley Andrew Roberson, both of Pikeville. Aaron and Zachary Brackin of Cleveland;sister: Bessie Abbott of Townsend; Brother Gene Brackin of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at Macedonia Baptist Church with R.T. Roberts and Carlos Sibley officiating. Interment in Macedonia Church cemetery. Grandsons and Nephews served as pallbearers
