Ricardo enlisted in the Marines 22 March 1968, at a recruiting office in Cleveland, Ohio.
He arrived in Vietnam 29 August 1968 and was assigned to Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. Ricardo was at Camp Love and 4 kilometers south of Danang City, when he was shot in the head, at 1400H, while involved in a fight with another Marine. Ricardo died at 2225H, at the Naval Station Hospital in Danang, as a result of the gunshot wound.
PVT Galvan served his country for nine months. He had been in Vietnam for 4 months and 2 days.
Survived by his wife, Charlene K Galvan of Avon, Ohio and his parents, Isaac P and Magdeline Galvan, and a brother, Alex of Lorian, Ohio.
