Wally was born to Jay and Emma Wellington Ames, in Miles City, Montana, and raised in Lincoln and Helena MT. In 1941 he went to Los Angeles to assemble P-51 Mustangs and B-25 Bombers. In Los Angeles he met and married Olga Sloan from Arkansas, November 26, 1942. He joined the U.S. Army in May 1942 and served as a Combat Engineer
in Europe. He studied Civil Engineering at Montana State College, Bozeman, graduating in 1951, where he came to know the Lord as his personal Savior and Lord.
He and Olga had 2 children, Donald Ames, and Anita Ames Anderson. They have 5 grandchildren and 1 gr-grandson. Predeceased by his parents and brother, Truman Ames. He worked for the State of California in CalTrans for many years, specializing in Bridge Design. He died at age 80 of cancer.
Memorial Service: Arcade Church, Sacramento, Jan 23, 2004. Interment at East Lawn, Sierra Hills.
