PATTON, REV. JAMES H., age 95, of Madisonville, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ 2:20 p.m. Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Wood Presbyterian Home. He was a member of Notchey Creek Baptist Church and Tellico Masonic Lodge # 80. He was an avid gardener and outdoorsman. He began his ministry in 1939 and pastored 42 years before retirement. He pastored the following Baptist churches: Mt. Pleasant, Citico, Hopewell Springs, Mt. Zion, Corinth, Bethlehem and Notchey Creek as well as Lone Oak and Tuskeegee in Graham County, N.C. He was preceded in death by wife of 73 years, Bertha King Patton; daughter and son-in-law, Clemma Mary Jane and George Link, Jr., infant son, Ernest Lee Patton, great granddaughter, Holly Watkins, parents, Alfred and Abbie Patton, sister, Alta Eggers, brothers, Ben Harvey Patton, Harley Patton, Arville Patton, Rev. Alvin Patton. Survivors: daughters and sons-in-law, Viola and James Young, Maryville, Alberta and Howard Watkins, of Vonore; sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Ralph and Imogene Patton, Randall and Virginia Patton, all of Madisonville, Verlin and Edna Patton, of Tellico Plains; 18 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 20 great great grandchildren; sisters, Ada Filben, Rose Brown, both of Maryville; brothers, Frank Patton, Charles Patton, John Patton, all of Maryville, Glen Patton, Marietta, GA; several nieces and nephews. Thanks to all the kind staff at Wood Presbyterian Home. Funeral 8:00 p.m. Friday, Notchey Creek Baptist Church, Rev. Gale Miller, Rev. Frank Hicks officiating. Interment 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Masonic service 7:45 p.m. Friday at the church. Family will receive friends 5-7:45 p.m. Friday at Notchey Creek Baptist Church. Friends may call at their convenience from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Friday at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Madisonville.
