John Dyer
Funeral services for John L. Dyer, 80, were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 24, 1998, in the Church of the Nazarene, Carnegie, with the Rev. Bob Williams of Yukon, officiating.
He died Tuesday, September 22, 1998, at the Carnegie Hospital.
John was born February 18, 1918 at Alden to Art and Florence Martin dyer, and lived in Caddo County all his life. He married Leona C. Walter on June 22, 1937, in Carnegie, and served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
A farmer and rancher, John was active in the Apache Antique Car Club, a member of the Alden fire Department, president of the Alden Cemetery, and was a reserve police officer for the Apache Police Department.
He was preceded in death by his parents, nine brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Leona, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Cledith and Billy Worley of Apache; a grandson, Joshua Worley of Apache; a sister, Ethel Burk of Anadarko; a brother, Walter Dyer of Fort Cobb, and many other relatives and friends.
Burial was in Carnegie Cemetery.
