Thomas E. Raleigh, whose body was found early Thursday afternoon in his room at the Newcomb Hotel had lived in Quincy since retiring seven years ago from his position in the inheritance tax division of the internal revenue department. He was employed by the internal revenue department more than 30 years and lived much of that time in Springfield. A son of Thomas A. and Mary Malley Raleigh. Mr. Raleigh was born September 3, 1877 at Burton. His family moved to Lewis county, Mo. when he was a young boy and attended Lewis county schools. He was married at Edina, Mo. to Stella Steve, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a son, Glennon, and a brother, R. J. Raleigh, who died in 1935. Survivors are two nieces, Mrs. Otto Wright of Quincy and Mrs. Frank McManus of Kansas City, Mo.

Thomas Raleigh, 77, Dies Suddenly Last Thursday At Newcomb In Quincy
Thomas E. Raleigh of the Newcomb Hotel in Quincy, a former Edina resident, died suddenly last Thursday afternoon, Oct. 28, 1954, at the hotel at the age of 77 years.
His body was brought here Saturday morning in the Kelly Funeral Home coach for services at St. Joseph Church at 10 o'clock by the Rev. Terence Mullins, pastor. Burial was in the old Catholic cemetery here by the grave of Mr. Raleigh's wife, who died in Quincy Jan. 18, 1936.
Mr. Raleigh is survived by only nieces and nephews, having been preceded in death besides his wife by his mother, Mrs. Thomas A. Raleigh, who died April 14, 1926; his father, who died Dec. 28, 1928, and their only child, Glennon T. Raleigh, who died Oct. 9, 1937. He was married to Stella Steve in 1907.
"Tom" Raleigh, as he was better known, was born in Lewis [sic]] County, a son of Thomas A. and Mary Mallory Raleigh. The family came to Edina in 1918. He was a court reporter here a number of years and left many years ago for Springfield, Ill., where he was employed by the Internal Revenue Department, from which he retired and moved to Quincy.
