John Williams Bradley was reared on his father's farm. He was self educated and became quite knowledgable in both books and business. He prepared himself for the ministry in the Regular Baptist Church. He was ordained and preached at Silver Creek until 1877 when he united with the Pleasant Grove Church a Missionary Baptist affiliate. This church was located SE of Mt. Airy and NW of Yates. He died two years later.

From 1861-1865 he served as an enlisted man in the 5th Infantry of the 1st and 2nd Missouri Brigade during the Civil War.

He was a highly respected man in Randolph Co.,Mo. serving two terms as Judge of the Randolph Co. Court.

His name appears as both John William and John Williams. We believe it to be Williams from the maiden name of his great grandmother.
