| Birth: | Sep. 8, 1848 Niles Berrien County Michigan, USA | | Death: | Sep. 4, 1929 Dallas Dallas County Texas, USA | Augustus was the son of Samuel P. L. Hunstable and Sarah Parkman. His father was a master shoemaker. In 1869 Augustus married Kate Marcellia Gragg in Michigan in Niles, Michigan. They had seven children.
In 1870 Augustus lived in Niles, Michigan, and was a shoemaker. In 1871 he moved to McKinney, Texas. The following is from The McKinney Advocate, April 3, 1880, Vol. 4, No. 1, Whole No. 157:
"A. & W. HUNSTABLE, were born and educated in Michigan; were brought up by their father in boot and shoe business; came to McKinney in 1871, and by industrous [sic] habits and indomitable energy have built up a very large trade. They have recently added to their business, many improvements, for the purpose of increasing the manufacturing of boots, shoes; skilled workmen themselves, and hiring only skilled assistants, they are prepared to give satisfaction." (provided by stpollan@aol.com) Apparently Augustus moved to Dallas soon after, because his obituary said he had been a resident of Dallas 50 years. In the 1900 census his occupation was traveling salesman. His obituary said he was a salesman for Hughes Candy Company for 25 years. He was president of the T.P.A. for many years. By the time of his death he was retired.
Following the death of Kate, he married in 1906. By the time he died in 1929 he was widowed again. Family links: Parents: Samuel P. L. Hunstable (1812 - 1893) Spouse: Kate Marcellia Gragg Hunstable (____ - 1901)* Children: Fred Mortimer Hunstable (1888 - 1957)* *Calculated relationship
