Birth: Apr. 19, 1805
Kanawha County
West Virginia, USA
Death: Nov. 5, 1855
Dade County
Missouri, USA

Mount Aetna is a son of Edmund and Sarah "Sally" Estill Morris. His siblings are Hamilton Rowan Morris (b. 1807) and Elvira Rebecca Morris Harrison (b. 1809).

Edmund (son of John and Margaret Droddy Morris) and Sally (daughter of Zachariah and Rebecca Christian Estill)came originally from Kanawha County, Virginia, now the state of West Virginia. Edmund's father, John Morris, with his siblings and parents, William and Elizabeth Stepp Morris, were the first family to settle Kanawha County, Virgina.

I believe Edmund and Sally Morris moved with their three children to Christian County, Kentucky about 1818. I believe Edmund died in Christian County, Kentucky between 1820-1830, and Sally between 1830-1838. Their grave sites are unknown.

Mount Aetna married Narcissa Berdit (Burdett) Payne September 2, 1825 in Christian County, KY. In the mid 1830's, along with the Payne's and Mount Aetna's sister Elvira's family they moved to mid-Missouri in the Cooper and Boone County area. From US Appointments of Postmasters 1832-1971, Mount Aetna Morris was the Postmaster of Lammes Mills, Boone County, MO, October 20, 1837 (1835-1845).

In the early 1840's many of the family group, including Mount Aetna, moved southwest to the Van Buren, later called Cass County area of Missouri. In the early 1850's the family group is selling land, Mount Aetna completes his will and they are preparing to move again.

Siblings Elvira Morris Harrison and Hamilton Rowan Morris from Illinois, and families move to Texas where they live the remainder of their lives. Mount Aetna settles in Dade County, MO and dies there in 1855. I wonder if he also intended to move to Texas, but illness prevented him from traveling that far.

Narcissa stayed in Dade County, MO and raised their nine children there.

The children not linked below are William H. born 1832 who is said to have died in Monticello, Arkansas, I think between 1870-1880; and Virginia Berdit born March,1834 and married David M Long, who I believe died here in southwest Missouri between 1900-1910.
