He made his film debut in "Les Petites du Quai aux Fleurs" (1943) and gained fame as a result of his performance in "Devil in the Flesh" (1946). Noted for his versatility and professionalism, he appeared in over 30 films such as "La Ronde" (1951), "It Happened in the Park' (1953), "The Red and the Black" (1954), "Le Joueur" (1958) and "Les Liaisons dangereuses" (1959).
