TOWNSEND - The funeral of Harrison Townsend, late member of the 117th Infantry, was conducted Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at Valley Grove Baptist church of which the deceased was a member from early youth. Rev. J. R. Dykes, former pastor, assisted by Rev. R.A. Rule, officiated. The pallbearers were W.C. Mize, Will Burnett, Hugh Townsend, H.A. McCammon, Lewis Mize, Luther McMurray and O.H. Burnett. The dead soldier was a son of Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Townsend. He is survived by three brothers, Garfield, Lee and Joseph Townsend of Seymour; four sisters, Mrs. G.W. Abott, Finley, Ala.; Mrs. Lasson Loveday, Ages, Ky.; Mrs. John Boling and Miss Nelia Townsend, Seymour. After the funeral service the body was interred by Erie Council No. 150, Jr. O.U.A.M.
