Three Members of Family Die Within One Week
Three members of one of Smith county's good families, one sister and two brothers, pass away within one week.
Mrs. Mecie McCormack Lankford, 84, died at her home in the Difficult community, June 5. She is survived by seven children, Mrs. Ruthie Lankford of South Carthage; Mrs. Willie Lankford of Defeated; Mrs. Will Boze; Mrs. Gene Sircey, with whom she made her home; and Mrs. David Boze; all of Difficult; Luther Lankford of Gallatin, Sid Lankford of Difficult; a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
George McCormack, 76, died at the home of his son, Albert McCormack, at Bethpage, June 9. He is survived by four daughters and three sons, and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Henry McCormack, 74, died at his home in the Donoho community June 12. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Carrie Butler and Mrs. Florette Cooke of Nashville; Mrs. Sarah Sircy of Kempville; and Mrs. Mettie Owens of Donoho; one son, Heston McCormack of Hartsville; and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
All three had been members of the Hickory Grove Methodist church for many years. Funeral services for each were conducted by Rev. Claire Suddarth, pastor.
Among their many relatives is Mrs. B. M. Lowe of Carthage, a niece.
There are four other children of this family surviving, they being Marshall McCormack of Donoho, Robert McCormack of Hartsville, Mrs. Mary McCormack of Oak Grove, and Mrs. Annie High of Bethpage.
Mrs. Lankford was buried in the Lankford burying grounds at Defeated and the remains of the two brothers were laid to rest in the McCormack burying grounds at Donoho.
