Howard W. Ashbrook, age 68, of Bloomingdale, passed away Monday, Feb. 28, 2011. Howard was born Sept. 30, 1942 in Lawrence, MI, the son of Charles and Edna (Pike) Ashbrook and had lived in the Bloomingdale area his entire life. He was an active member of Townline United Methodist Church, loved antique tractors, his flower and vegetable gardens, family outings, and was a loyal member of his senior exercise class. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. Surviving is his wife, Shelby (Beach) of 42 years, whom he married in Townline UMC; one daughter, Laura Lee (Shannon) Foster of Allegan; a grandson Joseph Foster; 3 nieces, Debbie (Mike) Bales, Lynn (Rick) Ashbrook, and Anita Ashbrook; several cousins; and his many Amish friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert C.; and a nephew, Philip Ashbrook. Following his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Monday 11 AM at the Townline UMC, Pastor David Haase officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to Townline UMC.
