Adial P Barnes was the son of a promenant farmer James P Barnes. Adial obtained his bachelors degree at University of Va and his law degree at University of Maryland. He married Elizabeth Barton Glenn in June 1882 and they had 3 son's Archiebald Earl Barnes, Olin Beall Barnes and James Adial Barnes and one daughter Margarete Earl Barnes.
