Grove obituary, Waynesburg Republican, Waynesburg (Greene County), Pennsylvania, 18 May, 1886
Samuel Grove, Esq., of this place, died at the residence of George Gordon, of Franklin township, Monday morning about 10 o'clock.
Deceased was a carpenter by trade and had been doing some work for Mr. Gordon and was taken ill on last Thursday evening. Medical aid was summoned but it proved of no avail. His disease was obstruction of the bowels.
Mr. Grove was among the oldest citizens of our town, being 66 years of age, and always bore the utmost respect of his many friends and acquaintances. He was an honest, hard-working man, and will be much missed in the community.
A wife and five children, Wm. and Emma, at home; Mrs. Dawson Hunnell and Mrs. Wm. Berryhill, of this place, and Mrs. Wm. Dye, of Washington, are left to mourn his demise.
The funeral will take place from his late residence to-day at 2 p. m.
