Helen Crawford Spence, 92, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at a local health care facility. She was born in Millinocket, February 7, 1913, the daughter of John and Mary (O'Neill) Crawford. Helen was a graduate of Stearns High School, class of 1931. She worked at the Great Northern Hotel for seven years, and then worked at Millinocket Regional Hospital for twelve years. Helen was a member of the AARP, and she was a member of the Little Flower Circle, Daughters of Isabella for over 50 years. She loved to knit mittens, sweaters and hats for all of her beloved grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, John G. Spence and his wife Janelle, and John W. Snider and his wife Shirley both of Millinocket; one sister Eileen and her husband Alphonso Moscone of Millinocket; eight grandchildren, Aaron Spence, Rachel and Brian Manzo, Johnna and Paul Dionne, Corrie Michaud, Cindy and John Masetta, Diane Snider, Joseph and Caitlin Polchies, and Nicole Polchies; six great grandchildren, four special friends she held close in her heart, Grace and Donald Helstrom and Gerri and Brian Anderson.

Besides her husband, Donald M. Spence, Helen was predeceased by her siblings, Mary Townsend, Elizabeth Walls Kelly, Margarite Babin, James Crawford, John Crawford.
Burial will be held in Millinocket Cemetery. (Lamson Funeral Home on-line)
