US Congressman. Served in the Union Army during the Civil War. Elected to represent Arkansas' 1st District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1868 to 1871. If I am not mistaken, Roots was also the US Marshal for the Western District of Arkansas, during the time of the Goingsnake Massacre in Indian Territory in 1872. / Rest in peace.

Just recently figured out that both Logan Holt Roots and his wife Emily Margaret Blakeslee are both distant relatives of mine through one of my maternal great grandmothers.
