Effie (Colvin) Burris was born March 11, 1894 in Clark County, Orange Township, Illinois the daughter of John and Nettie Artilda (Grissom) Colvin.

On May 1, 1911 she was united in Marriage to Everett Burris. Everett and Effie spent their 45 years kiving south of Casey and Martinsville in the Hoguetown and Moonshine vicinity. This union was blessed with 15 children of whom 11 survive, 7 sons-- Eugene of Williford, Arkansas, Dean of Homer, Michigan, Kenneth of Flat Rock, Illinois, John of Martinsville, Illinois, Victor, Buddy, and Billy all of Casey. 4 daughters-- Mrs John (Marjorie) Hammond and Mrs Lloyd (Lucy) Montgomery of Martinsville, Illinois and Mrs Walter (Elizabeth) Perkins and Mrs Bill (Betty) Darling of Casey, Illinois.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Everett, 2 sons, Max and Bobby Joe, 2 daughters, Maxine and Nancy Lou.

In addition to her children, she leaves to mourn her passing 2 sisters, Mrs Opal Miller of Danville, Illinois, and Mrs Ray (Cecile) Staley of Casey, 26 Grandchildren, 19 Great-grandchildren, several Nieces and nephews, and a host of friends

As a young girl she attended the Kickapoo Sunday School and church south of Martinsville and accepted Christ there. This church is to be her final resting place.

She departed this life on December 31, 1975, at the age of 81 years 9 months and 20 days.
