The funeral of Mrs. Richard Punke who died on Tuesday November 20 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Bloomington, was held at the home near Elliott on Thursday, Rev. Andrew Hahn, of Anchor, officiating, Rev. Lewis Fisher, a brother of the deceased, also assisted in the final rites.
Flossie Myrtle Fisher was born near Saybrook Illinois on November 18, 1891. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Fisher of that place. Here she spent her early childhood and completed the work in the local schools. When about 12 years of age she was baptized and united with the Christian church at Saybrook. This faith she kept resolutely until her untimely death. On February 28, 1906, she moved with the family to Adams County Indiana. Having a desire to teach and obtain a higher education, she attended Normal University at Normal Illinois. After finishing her course at that institution, she taught for some years near Gibson City.
On May 7, 1913, she was married in Gibson to Richard H. Punke of Elliott. The young couple began housekeeping on a farm near Elliott where they have since resided. Three children came to bless their home, Richard Franklin, age 14, Henry Roy, age 10, and Flossie M., aged 4 years.
She leaves to mourn her departure her faithful husband, Richard Punke, and three children with her parents, 5 brothers, Lewis of Centralia Illinois, Harry of Dundee Michigan, Gilbert of Los Angeles California, Ivan of Picher Oklahoma, Roy of Chicago, and 2 sisters, Mrs. Ruth Prather of Pershing Indiana, and Besie Haffner of Crawfordsvilie. Burial in Wagoner cemetery.
