FUNERAL SERVICES FOR BORUP LADY
Mrs. Ole N. Larson, Aged 79, Died Sept. 6th After An Illness of Only a Few Days
Funeral services for Mrs. Ole N. Larson of Borup were held last Monday, Sept. 12th at 10 o'clock from the farm home southeast of Borup and at 11 o'clock at the Felton Lutheran church and from there to the Solem Lutheran church, Hawley, where the remains were laid to rest beside her four sons, Henry, Edward and Arthur, who died at home and Norman, who died in the World war.
Rev. S. J. Lindseth of Borup officiated at the Felton Lutheran church. Henrietta Hilde, a granddaughter and Carmen Harris of Borup sang vocal duets, "Heaven is My Home" and "Softly and Tenderly." Maynard and Russell Kiser, two great grandsons, sang "Looking This Way." Rev. A. J. Anders of Lake Park officiated at the Solem Lutheran church and was assisted by Rev. S. J. Lindseth of Borup. The Solem Mixed quartet sang two songs. The pall bearers were twelve grandsons. The six active pall bearers were Orville and Arvin Lovold, Earl Larson, Oliver Larson, Virgil Smith and Roy Doran. The honorary pall bearers were Gerald Sander, Leslie Lovold, Garfield Hilde, Victor Larson, Erling Smith and Marvin Larson.
Mrs. Larson was born in Norway July 10th, 1859 and came across to this country with her parents when she was three years old. She together with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ole Tang moved from Norway to Dane county, Wisconsin, where they lived for several years, later moving to Albert Lea, where they lived a few years before going to Lake Park and from there to Hawley, Minn., town of Eglon.
Mrs. Larson was united in marriage to Ole N. Larson March 27, 1879 by Rev. Bjorge of Lake Park. The marriage took place at the Solem Lutheran church. Mr. and Mrs. Larson lived in Hawley for 35 years. In 1913 they moved to Borup where they have lived since.
Mrs. Larson was well known around Borup and Felton, having lived on the Willow Grove farm for 25 years.
She had been in poor health for several years. She had several slight strokes, but in spite of her health she was a good manager and a hard worker.
Mrs. Larson was 78 years, one month and 27 days old at the time of her death which was due to weakness, pleurisy and pneumonia which claimed Mrs. Larson Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 6th at 4:45. She became seriously ill Saturday September 3rd and the children were all called home and were at her bedside when she passed away.
Fifteen children were born to this union, four sons of whom have preceded her in death and 11 children who are living. She leaves to mourn her departure her aged husband, Ole N. Larson and the children, namely: Nina, Mrs. Austin Askelson, Felton; Oscar Larson, Felton; Louis Larson, Ulen; Sophie, Mrs. Bert Smith, Glyndon; Annie, Mrs. Jens Lovold, Lake Park; Henry Larson, Felton; Stella, Mrs. Helmer Hilde, Felton; Chris Larson at home; Edwin, Borup; Alice, Mrs. William Nappen, Borup and Mae, Mrs. Fred Sander, Felton; two brothers, S. O. Tang, Moorhead and Chris Tang, Hawley and one sister, Miss Sophie Tang of Lake Park, as well as 47 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.
