Kouts ---- John H. Smith 73 years, for many years a resident of Porter County died Saturday night at 9:45 pm at the home of his daugther Mrs Mabel Bird on Indiana Avenue. He had been ill for mor than a year. He was born at Dowagiac Michigan and came to Valparaiso fifty years ago, establishing a cab service located on Collage Hill which he conducted for many years.l He was united in marriage in 1880 to Carrie A Morehouse who died in October , 1927 , two sons Edwin Gale Smith and Jesse Lee Smith also preceded him in death. Surviving are two daugthers Mrs Bird and Mrs Maude Wiseman of Mishawaka, Indiana six grandsons Several brothers and sisters who resided in Michigan and a large of friends. Memorial services will be held at the Kosanke Brothers Funeral Home in Kouts Tuesday afternoon at 2 o,clock standard time with burial in Kouts Cemetery
