William David Taylor was born Sept. 11, 1858 at Lexington, N. Carolina, and died April 29, 1937 at his home four miles south of Hepler, aged 78 years 7 months and 18 days. He had been in poor health for six months.

Mr. Taylor came to Augusta, Kas., at an early age. He was married there, May 10, 1886, to Miss Anna Clements. The Taylors later moved to Girard, then to Farlington, then to the home south of Hepler, where they have lived for more than 40 years.

Four children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Taylor, and all were at his bedside when death came. Mr. Taylor was a true Christian, a devoted husband, a loving father and a good neighbor.

Beside his wife, Mrs. Anna Taylor, the deceased leaves three daughters, Mrs. Mae Miesner; Mrs. Minnie Parks and Mrs. Birdie Parkey, all of Ft. Scott, and one son, Clyde Taylor of Galena; seven grandchildren, Ray Parkey, Earl, Raymond, Floyd and Margaret Jean Parks, all of Ft. Scott and Betty Ann and Mary Lee Taylor of Galena.

He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Skeen of Garnett and Mrs. Mary Atherton of Dexter, and a half sister, Mrs. Minnie Whisner of Parker.

Edd Koontz of Parker, Wade Koontz of McLeod Montana and Harry Koontz of Los Angeles, Calif. are half brothers and Jack Koontz of Columbus is a step-brother. Mr. Taylor also leaves a number of nephews and nieces, and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. from the Methodist church in Hepler. Roy Parkey, Mary Lee Tylor and Margaret Jean Parks were flower children. The pallbearers were Lewis Stahl, George Viets, Arthur Kroenke, Alt Redmond, Joe Johanson and Fred Schultz. Interment was in the Hepler cemetery.
