WOMAN DIES OF INJURIES - Miss Laura K. Beck, 76, Succumbs At Hospital; Hit By Auto.
MISS LAURA K. BECK, well known resident of Chewsville District, died at the Washington County Hospital at midnight last night of injuries suffered last Saturday morning when struck by an automobile while crossing North Potomac street.
Miss Beck, a daughter of the late Daniel and Katherine Sheeley Beck, was 76 years of age. She was born and reared in the Chewsville district and engaged in farming all her life. She was a member of the Reformed church.
Miss Beck was the last of her immediate family. Former County Treasurer Barry M. Hartle and Attorney Scott M. Wolfinger are cousins.
Miss Beck was struck by the automobile of R. S. Brietweiser about 11 o'clock last Saturday morning when she stepped from between two parked cars in the 100 block of North Potomac street.
Brietweiser at the time was traveling at only a few miles an hour and stopped his car in less than two feet. The aged woman was rushed to the hospital where she was found suffering from a fractured left arm and general shock.
Funeral services tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Kraiss Mortuary Chapel by the Rev. Edward Plitt. Burial will be made in the Smithsburg cemetery.
