| Birth: | unknown | | Death: | unknown | Musician. Born on November 1, 1953, in Duralde, Louisiana, he was a Creole artist known for his gruff vocals and credited with bringing new vitality to zydeco music. In the 1980s, with his band the Zydeco Hi-Rollers, he played accordion on the "crawfish circuit" an area from southwest Louisiana to east Texas. He released his debut album, "Beau Jocque Boogie" (1991) on Rounder Records, which included his signature songs "Richard's Club" and "Give Him Cornbread". His group attracted a large and enthusiastic following, which led to concerts as a headliner act for the Louisiana Red Hot Music tour. On September 9, 1999, he was performing at Mid-City Lanes Kinder, Louisiana, when he collapsed and died the next day from a heart attack at age 45. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
