James H. Bodefeld, age 73, of Dyer, formerly of Whiting, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2011. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan (nee Reel); five children: Jim (Pam) Bodefeld of Katy, TX, Brent Bodefeld of Chicago, IL, Mary Davis of New Lenox, IL, Steve (Angie) Ainley of Frankfort, IL, and David (Meg) Ainley of Chicago, IL; 11 grandchildren: Melissa and Isobel Bodefeld, Michael and Benjamin Davis, Steven, Michelle, Hannah, Dylan, and Sami Ainley, Danny and Diane Ainley; one sister, Carol Seering of Sumter, SC.
Mr. Bodefeld was preceded in death by his parents: Henry and Mary Bodefeld of Whiting. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 21, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Ave. (1/2 mile south of Rt. 30) with Rev. Alfred Dettmer officiating.
Private burial will be held at Beverly Cemetery, Blue Island, IL.
Friends are invited to meet with the family on Sunday, March 20, 2011 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home.
Prayer service at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Bodefeld was a 1955 graduate of George Rogers Clark High School and a graduate of Indiana University. He currently attended St. Joseph Catholic Church of Dyer. Mr. Bodefeld was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He enjoyed golfing and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a volunteer for V.A.S. (Volunteer Advocates for Seniors).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in James' loving memory to a charity of your choice.
