U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II stationed on the USS Cape
Esperance. One of 13 children Son of the late Elias S. and Ruth Fehr Beck.

A group of 10 seventeen-year-olds left Wednesday for Philadelphia for examination for enlistment into the U.S. Naval Reserve V-6. Seven of them were from Columbia.

"Ammon BECK 62
Ammon E. BECK, 62, a longtime Armstrong employee, died unexpectedly of natural causes
Monday at his home, 33 Rudy St.
BECK, who lived in Lancaster all his life, was employed 48 years by Armstrong World Industries. He worked as a tow motor operator in the warehouse, retiring this year.
He was a member of the United Rubber Workers Union, Local 285.
A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, BECK was stationed on the BUSS Cape Esperance.
He was a member of American Legion Post 185 in Mount Joy and the American Association of Retired Persons. He was a avid boater for the past 31 years.
Born in Honeybrook, he was the son of the late Elias Stautter and Ruth A. Fehr BECK.
Surviving are two sons, Master St Edward R. , Dover, Del. and Robert S., Salunga, a daughter, Carol J. Vaughn, Lancaster; five grandchildren; one great grand daughter; and six brothers and sisters; Alice M. Ecenrode, Lancaster; James E., Denver: Carl B., Bristol; Minnie E. Lohr, Lancaster: Joseph E.S., Medford, NJ and Frances J. Hogarth, Levittown."
