Addison Comstock Collins was the son of Selah "Baxter" Collins and Permelia Green.

In 1865 Addison purchased the brick home built by his grandfather, Alpheus Collins, in Washtenaw County. This home is still standing on Roepke Road in Gregory. He raised cattle, sheep, and horses on what was referred to as the "Collins Plains." The plains were distinctive because most of the surrounding territory was very hilly, making farming more difficult.

He was married for over 40 years to Jane McCall. They moved to Stockbridge in 1899. Jane died in 1904 after a lingering illness caused by a runaway horse. They had no biological children. In 1880, however, a "Maggie McKal," age 17, born in Scotland, was enumerated as their adopted daughter. Obviously she was related to Jane. I have found no further record of Maggie.

He married second to Gertrude Mills on 9 Nov 1904 in Detroit when he was 66 and she was 28. They had three children:

1. Marian, 26 Nov 1905 - 30 Nov 1905.
2. A.C. (Jr.) b. 9 Nov 1907.
3. Gertrude Irene, 5 May 1910 - 14 Sep 1964.

Addison wrote a family biography in the "History and Biography of Ingham County, MI" which is available for download online for free.
