SHELBINA, Mo. -- Mr. Robert Paul Power, 81, of Shelbina, formerly of Quincy, Ill., died at 11:30 p.m. Sunday (March 6, 2011) in the Salt River Nursing Home in Shelbina.

Born Sept. 29, 1929, in Monroe County, Paul was a son of Archie and Nellie Murphy Power. He married Beverly J. Starrett Sept. 20, 1952, in Indian Creek. She died Feb. 6, 2009.

Mr. Power was a current member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and had been a lifelong member of St. Boniface Catholic Church where he was past president of the parents and friends club. An avid hunter and fisherman, Paul also enjoyed camping and gardening. He was a charter member of the Mississippi Valley Hunters and Fisherman Association and a life member of South Side Boat Club, Knights of Columbus and Quincy American Legion Post 37 where he had served as Sergeant at Arms. Mr. Power served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Paul was employed at Selby Implement Co. in Quincy for 47 years, retiring as service manager.

Survivors include a son, Rob Power and his wife, Bonnie, of Ewing; three grandchildren, Heather Self and her husband, Jason, of Quincy, Cassandra Power of Quincy and Robert Paul Power III of Ewing; a great-grandson; a brother, James M. Power and his wife, Sylvia, of LaBelle, Fla.; two sisters, Mary Power of Macon and Barbara Robertson and her husband, Donald, of Lakenan; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Stupasky and her husband, Paul, of Quincy and Kay Power of Shelbina; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Mr. Power was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beverly; a sister, Johanna Lorenson and her husband Harry; a brother, Jerry Power; and a nephew, Gilbert Feld Jr.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Thursday in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home conducted by Msgr. Michael Kuse. Burial with military honors by Quincy American Legion Post 37 will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday morning in the funeral home. A parish prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

MEMORIALS: Mississippi Valley Hunter and Fishermen's Association.

ARRANGEMENTS: Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.
