WADKINS, William W. "Bill" Jr., passed away at his Loon Lake home on May 4, 2007. Bill was born in Spokane, WA on June 9, 1931. He was the son of William W, and Margaret (Siemers) Wadkins, Sr.
Bill attended first grade at Loon Lake before his family moved to Auburn, WA and Bill graduated from Deer Park High School. He attended 2 years at Gonzaga College before joining the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He married Darlene Vaughan on March 8, 1957 in Mount Vernon, WA. Bill worked in Mount Vernon for the Washington State Patrol as a radio operator and as the driver's license examiner. He was able to transfer to Seattle and then Vancouver, WA where he spent 13 years working as an Electronic Technician. He then transferred to Spokane in 1973 and retired in the early 80s. Bill then went to work for the Washington Water Power Company. He retired several times and continued working as a consultant for Avista and other companies until his health forced him to retire. Bill was a giver and not a taker, volunteering countless hours helping set up 911 stations and fire stations with their radio frequency lines. For 10 to 15 years he was the Eastern Washington Frequency Coordinator for APCO and also the HEAR Radio system for 19 area hospitals. He served as Chairman and Vice Chairman for the Inland Empire Interference Committee and was the Stevens County Emergency Coordinator for Ham Radio Operators. His hobbies included Ham Radio, and repairing anything electric or fixable.
Bill is survived by wife, daughter, son ... Funeral services for William Wadkins will be held at 4:30 pm, Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at the Loon Lake Grade School Gymnasium. Burial will follow at the Loon Lake Cemetery.
