Served as Farrier (Blacksmith), Company I, 18th Pennsylvania Cavalry during the Civil War. Was part of the consolidation of the 18th and 22nd PA Cavalry regiments after the war to form the 3rd PA Provisional Cavalry. Mustered out of Company F, 3rd PA Prov. Cav on October 31, 1865.
