Age 82, passed away Saturday March 12, 2011 at home peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 25, 1928 in Malvern, PA., daughter of Lewis M. and Jean (Wilson) Atkinson. On November 27, 1946 she married Earl Gene Johnson and shared their lives together for 61 years until his passing on September 26, 2008. Mrs. Johnson was employed by Ford Motor Company for 32 years before her retirement in 1986. Jean was an avid bowler and enjoyed golf.
Survivors include; one daughter; Diana (Greg) Coppola of Schwenksville, Pa., three sons; Gary (Susan) Johnson of Las Vegas, Nevada, Stanley (Michelle) Johnson of Clinton and Wayne (Tina) Johnson of Ypsilanti, 13 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in in death by her parents, her husband, one son Ronald Timothy Johnson in 1988 and one sister Reumah Kellon. Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Stark Funeral Service 101 S. Washington Street, Ypsilanti with Pastor Gordon Moore, officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Ypsilanti. Memorial contributions made to Arbor Hospice would be appreciated. Envelopes are available at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6-9 pm Tuesday and 2-4 & 6-9 pm Wednesday.
