| Birth: | Jan. 9, 1752 Albemarle County Virginia, USA | | Death: | Sep. 4, 1833 Hamilton County Indiana, USA |  Davis was a son of Dr.(Frantz)Francis Welchel/Whelchel whom was a soldier in the Revolutionary War whom served in SC, NC, Tennessee, Kentucky. Several spellings of his name have been found in the researched material in various states in which he lived. He moved with his wife to Indiana in 1787 transfer from Revolutionary War Record in South Carolina. He served in the war under his cousin William Whiteside from Tyron, North Carolina whom married his mothers sister Elizabeth (Stockton). He is also a cousin to Indianas GENERAL JOHN TIPTON whom platted the State Capital of Indianapolis, Logansport; Tipton, Indiana is named for General Tipton.
