Marcia Dawn McGuire Koeppen was received by her Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, March 9, 2011. She was 66 years, 3 months and 14 days old.
Marcia was born November 22, 1944 in Nashville, Kansas to Don and Vivian McGuire. She grew up in Nashville, Kansas with two brothers, Mike and Criss and one sister, Jill. Marcia graduated from Nashville High School in 1962 and married Donald Koeppen in 1963. They resided in Attica, Kansas. To that union two children Paige and Andy were born.
In 1972 Marcia graduated from NWOSU with a BA in Science. She taught Elementary and Jr. High for 14 years in Attica before returning to NWOSU and earned a degree in counseling. She was the Counselor at Cheney Elementary School for 14 years. Marcia retired in 2004 but couldn't stay away from those kids. She was a counselor in Medicine Lodge for 4 years and retired again in 2008.
Marcia was active in many things. She was president of Art Guild, an active member of the Attica United Methodist Church, served on City Council and was an active member of KNEA and Kansas Counselors Association.
Marcia loved to "set the table" with appropriate décor for each season and holiday. She had fun changing it frequently. She was always looking on the ˝ price table at her favorite stores for decorations to add to her collection.
She was an avid gardener. She always went to the dead plant sales and even though the plants looked horrible, she would bring them back to full bloom in her ever changing garden. Her gardening also included the post office's garden and Don's car lot garden. She was a junker, but a tasteful junker always going to sales with her husband, Don. She always found that unique piece.
She loved to travel with Paige and her friends from NY to Chicago to San Francisco and back again. (Too many exciting adventures to mention.)
The Art Guild was important to Marcia. She organized the social events and art activities. She was an artist with varied talents from batik to bulldogs; she could do it all. She loved seeing all the bulldogs around town.
Marcia was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was so proud of her grandchildren, Chase 6, Ashtyn 4, Jena 2 and Drew 1. She was preceded in death by her brother Criss; her father Don McGuire and mother Vivian McGuire.
She is survived by her husband Don of the home; daughter Paige of Wichita; son Andy and wife Galeen and her grandchildren Chase, Ashtyn, Jena and Drew of Wichita; brother Mike and wife Judy of Sharon and sister Jill and husband Bill Watkins of Kingman. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and a multitude of friends.
