Friends may call from 4 – 8 p.m. Thursday in the Rupp Funeral Home where a prayer service and time of sharing will be at 6 p.m. She will lie instate 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church where Mass of The Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Rev. Marc Gawronski, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe. Born December 15, 1923 in Dundee, Michigan, she was the daughter of Russell and Catherine (Labert) Babcock. She married Fred W. Showers in May of 1944 in Monroe. He died in 1990. Elizabeth was class valedictorian of Dundee High School class of 1941; a member of St. Mary Church and its Christian Women and the Monroe Garden Club; an associate member and volunteer for the Thrift Shop and was also a longtime member of the Mercy Memorial Hospital Guild. She enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, working in her yard, and spending time with friends and family. Surviving are three sons, David (Dianne) Showers of Sorrento, Florida, Robert (Susan) Showers of Bellaire, Texas, Dr. Paul Showers of Libertyville, Illinois; four daughters, Elizabeth Kweton of Libertyville, Illinois, Nancy Showers Darouie of Canton, Michigan, Dr. Mary Jo Sandberg of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Karen (Al) Hummer of Brighton, Michigan; a sister, Marilyn Gibson of Tecumseh, Michigan; fifteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband Fred, she was preceded by a sister, Frances Toburen. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
