Ida Von Den Steinen was born 2 August 1879 in New Bedford, Mass., and died November 1976. Her parents were August Von Den Steinen, born 1842 in Prussia, and Fredericka, born 1847 in Germany. August was naturalized in Massachusetts courts on December 2, 1875. He arrived in the United States aboard the Normannia 28 August 1896, so he may have left family in Germany.
Ida's siblings were 1.) Gustav Von Den Steinen, born June 10, 1870, in Newark, New Jersey, who married Eleanor and was an attorney in Cleveland. He apparently had no children. Died December 5, 1931. 2.) George, born Massachusetts, who died 10 March 1920 in Cleveland. 3.) Frederick William, born 5 December 1873, Massachusetts, who married Louisa J. and had a daughter Elizabeth. Died 21 March 1954 4.) Mrs. George Merrill. 5.) Edward

Ida married Gustav George Adomeit, a well known Cleveland, Ohio, businessman and painter. They had a daughter Ruth who did not marry.

Notes: Dr. Edward von den Steinen, director of physical education at Western Reserve University from 1903 to 1920, died yesterday in Tucson, Ariz. After leaving Western Reserve, Dr. von den Steinen taught at Colorado State College until his retirement in 1946. During World War I he served as a major in the Army Medical Corps. Survivors are his son, Karl, of Tucson; a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth D. MacEwen of Lakewood; a brother, F.W. Steinen of Cleveland; two sisters, Mrs. George Adomeit and Mrs. George E. Merrill, and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at Tucson.
