DeVORE - Purley C. DeVore, a son of Cary Allen and Belinda Janettie Swan DeVore, was born March 6, 1892, near Confidence, Iowa and passed away at his home in Millerton, having reached the age of 75 years, eight months and three days.

He grew to manhood in that area and had spent his entire adult life as a farmer in northern Missouri and southern Iowa.

On the 27th of February, 1918, he was united in marriage to Erma June Stickler. To this union two sons were born, Allen and Gerald. On the first of January, 1953, his wife, Erma, preceded him in death.

On the 4th of August, 1958, he was married to the former Stella Stuteville, who survives him. He is also survived by his two sons, Allen of Chariton and Gerald of San Leandro, Calif, two brothers, Lewis and Andrew, both of Centerville, one sister, Myrtle Gerrard of Mystic; a step-daughter, Mrs. Wilda Brandon of Millerton; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, a number of other relatives and a host of friends.

Along with his wife, Erma, he was preceded in death by four brothers.

He was a member of the New York Christian church and a good friend and neighbor who will be missed in his community.

Services were held Nov. 11, 1967 at 2 p.m., at the Miley and Brueggemann Chapel with Rev. J. William Gardner officiating. Burial was in the Chariton cemetery.
